  Packed by the Alpha

  Part 1

I had always been a no nonsense kind of girl. Growing up among the reigning werewolf pack in the Shady Coast Territory of Washington kind of made that quality mandatory. My family just happened to be the only full humans living amongst the pack and with that came a clear understanding that we always needed to be on our guard despite the familiarity and good will the pack had shown us.

My father was the former Alpha’s best friend growing up and they had always had a tight bond between them. We didn’t always live within Shady Coast Territory, but when my father and the Alpha went missing five years ago, the Alpha’s son, Beau, rose to the head of the pack and became their regent Alpha until they could find his father. He took it upon himself to make sure my family was protected and moved us into the territory with the pack. It had been a hard adjustment for my mother never knowing what happened to her husband and the sudden move to a completely unknown place with its own set of rules that had been completely foreign to us in the past. My mother just couldn’t cope, so I took on the task of watching over my siblings to let my mom grieve in her own way to help alleviate her worry and stress.

Under the circumstances, I grew up fast. You’d never know I was just eighteen years old. I had been told I was wise beyond my years and I was proud of that fact. I just wished I could have acquired that quality without all the heartache that accompanied that wisdom.

The Territory was sandwiched between the woods on one side and the coast on the other. Running on the beach was the only activity in my life that included no one but me, and I relished my morning runs. It was my time. I usually went early enough to avoid anyone else that might have the same awesome idea of a morning work-out.

I was completely in my element running on the spongy wet sand while the sun decided to yawn and wake up, casting a warm orange glow across the waves. My playlist was chock full of my favorite tunes and blocked out any thought of the stress of real life as I ran.

It also blocked out all sound around me, which was why I never heard a sound from the creeping stranger behind me.

He grabbed me from behind, covering my mouth so I couldn’t scream. I struggled against him and fought with as much strength as I could, but I was no match for the massive man dragging me towards the woods surrounding the beach. I was surprised he was able to man handle me. I had always thought that my larger, curvier body could somehow protect me because I wasn’t some helpless waif of a girl, but he was large enough that it just didn’t matter.

His breathing was ragged against my ear and the bulge pushing against my backside told me he had intentions that I knew I would rather die than submit to. Tears stung my eyes as I realized that my solace of my alone time on the beach, the only thing that I truly derived happiness from, would be the thing that ended up killing me.

The tears blurred my vision and the early morning light still hadn’t illuminated the darkness of the trees I could barely make out around me. I was losing strength fighting against him and I knew he would win.

  I really hated losing.

  Especially like this.

Somewhere beyond my consciousness I heard a growl. Cold air stung my back where my kidnapper once held me tight. The realization of freedom struck me like lightening and my knees buckled as the shock overcame my senses. My eyes darted around the dark woods pinpointing the guttural sound of fury of my savior. The dark streaks covering the body of my kidnapper told me he wouldn’t be winning anything ever again.

The wolf’s growl softened after delivering the final death blow with his deadly claws. He scanned the woods for me and lowered his head making eye contact with me. The worried look in the wolf’s eyes was a complete contrast to the deadly beast I witnessed moments ago and I felt a sudden rush of gratitude for the animal that saved me.

I was normally terrified of the pack that we lived among, especially when they were in their wolf forms. I tried to stay as far away as possible, hunkering down with my family in our little cabin, during their routine shifts to hunt. The last thing I wanted to be was dinner.

Which was precisely the type of look the wolf was now giving me after seeming so worried. His eyes were flames as he slowly trotted over to me, and I scooched back on hard earth underneath me. What on earth was this wolf thinking? And who on earth was it? Why was he even here so early in the morning anyway? None of it made sense as I sat there in the dirt watching him stalk closer and closer to me.

I was too confused and hurt to actually get up and try to run, but when it got close enough it bent its head next to my ankle and rubbed it along my calf. I couldn’t believe it, it was trying to calm me down, comfort me. It whimpered a bit as it caught sight of a large scratch on my thigh. It rubbed its head against my leg once again before lying its massive body down and resting its head on my lap.

Apparently, I had made a friend.

I patted its head and whispered a heartfelt, “Thank you.” And the wolf nestled in closer.

I sat there a few minutes with the wolf, letting the calm of the woods and the morning light peeking through the trees surround us.

I took a deep breath and finally asked, “Who are you?”

The wolf glanced up at me, and I swear if wolves could shrug, I saw it shrug. And then before I could even process the thought of a wolf shrugging it shifted from a huge furry wolf into the most beautiful man I had ever seen. His eyes were glued to mine as I realized who had saved me.

  Beau.

  The regent Alpha.

“You? What? Why? I don’t get it…” A million questions sputtered out of my mouth like word vomit.

He stood up, shrugged (See! I knew the wolf had shrugged!), but the intensity of his gaze never faltered.

“Kate, you had to have known.”

I was confused by his answer of my 4 million questions.

  “Known what?”

  “That you’re mine.”

“Umm, excuse me?” I most certainly wasn’t. “Actually, I’m dating Charlie. You know that.”

  “Doesn’t matter.”

  “Uhh, yeah it does.”

“He hasn’t claimed you, and I know without a doubt that you’re mine, not his.”

I bitch-slapped him with my eyes.

He ran his hand through his hair and sighed, shaking his head, “I wanted to wait until you were a little older to even try to explain this, but it can’t be helped now.” He furrowed his brow as he gathered his thoughts before continuing, “You’re my fated mate. I know that sounds insane, but I’ve known since you came to the Territory with your family. In fact, it’s the main reason why I had your family move here after our fathers went missing. I wanted to protect you.”

“Come again?” Yep, he was insane. Practicality was how I lived my life, and fate or destiny had nothing to do with it, not since my dad went missing, anyway. There just wasn’t room for those things in my life.

“Look, I’m not saying you have to believe it right now. But we are meant to be together. It can’t be denied. You’ll see.”

I snorted. Yeah, we’ll see about that.

“So is that why you’re out here so early, too?” I asked putting the pieces together.

“Bingo, beautiful.” He grinned looking pretty pleased with himself. I had to hold in a tiny smile of my own. He was not going to wear me down that quickly if I had anything to say about it. But, my goodness, he was gorgeous. The butterflies that took flight in my stomach when he smiled felt like a betrayal of my rational mind. I had a boyfriend, for Pete’s sake!

“I come here every morning. I sit and wait for you to jog by from my spot right over there to make sure you’re safe.” He pointed to a wooded, secluded area down the beach, not too far off, but enough of a hike inland that he wouldn’t be spotted.

“I may need to rethink my spot, though. It took me way too long to get to you this morning from there.”

I crooked a half smile up at him, “Rookie mistake.

“Hmmph,” he answered. “But this isn’t,” the speed of his arms grabbing my waist and pulling me up took me completely off-guard. His grip was firm as his mouth assaulted mine.

Until I slapped him, that is.

“Jeez, Beau! Seriously? You really think that would work on me?”

“Another rookie mistake?” he asked chagrined rubbing his cheek.

  “You bet, buddy.”

He looked at me so intently I thought I was going to lose my footing again. I couldn’t deny the lightening that struck my unsuspecting senses when he kissed me. Just the thought of it had me burning and I hoped he couldn’t see my cheeks redden in the shadow of the trees.

I looked away from his stare trying to focus on something else. A twig on the ground being carried off by ants caught my attention. Anything was better to look at in that moment than the intensity of his eyes staring into mine.

Heaven help me. I was in trouble.

  “Kate?”

The question shocked me out of my ant watching trance, “Wha… what?”

“I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“You didn’t. Just caught me off-guard, I guess.” I shrugged not daring to look at him still.

“Kate, look at me. I need you to know I would never do anything to hurt you. I’m here to protect you, not scare you or make you do anything you don’t want to do.”

I cocked my head up finally lifting my gaze to meet his. The look in his eyes was sincere and in that moment I knew without a doubt I could trust him.

I nodded, “Okay, I trust you.”

His smirk returned, but it wasn’t the skeazy smirk of a player; he was genuinely happy. The smile actually reached his eyes. He wasn’t pretending he was happy about my trusting him. There was nothing nefarious about him and that surprised me more than I thought it would. I realized I wanted him to want me, and the fact that he had just put it into my hands and gave me control was the best thing he could have done to seduce me into his arms.

  This guy was good.

I didn’t think twice before sliding my hand up his arm and grabbing the tuft of hair at the nape of his neck to bring his lips closer to mine.

“You sure?” he whispered, the fire in his eyes blazing with the question.

  I nodded.

“I need to hear you say it, Kate.”

“I’m sure.” The question in his eyes was still there despite my answer. “Please,” tiny shocks of lightening were coursing through my body; my pinks bits aching as if just the proximity of his lips so close to mine could make me explode in waves of pleasure. My body trembled with the thought of his lips, my pink bits, and what he could do me if I let him.

Despite feeling obligated to Charlie, I couldn’t deny the pull of Beau. There was just something more that I could feel with Beau. I couldn’t explain it. This was nothing I had ever felt before this moment in time despite the small fight I put up just minutes before. The pull was insane, and as much as I wanted to deny it, I knew I couldn’t.

But Charlie… God, I was going to hell. I tried to shove my guilt aside knowing I was about to hurt someone I cared about it. The guilty feeling never quite left, and I felt like the worst person ever, but I also couldn’t step away from Beau despite my guilt. The pull, being fated, whatever it was, was too much for me to resist now.

  “I need you, Beau.”

The force of his arms slamming me into his body almost knocked the wind out of me as his lips found mine. His kiss was intense and the fire behind it was burning every inch of my body. I was melting, the curves of my body molded into his perfectly as I let myself ease into his embrace.

He brought me as close as he could to his naked body, grabbing my plump ass, so I could feel exactly what I was doing to him. The unencumbered bulge between his legs lodged itself against my mound making me moan into his mouth. His lips moved their way down and nipped my neck as he thrust his pelvis against mine.

I wanted more. I wanted those lips on my breasts licking and sucking on my taught nipples. I moved his head in my hands down a little further egging him on to the place I wanted his tantalizing wet mouth to suck.

He chuckled a little, “I’ve been fantasizing about these luscious mounds of flesh since I laid eyes on you,” he nipped the top of my cleavage before pulling the straps of my sports bra down to expose my milky white tits.

He grinned. This time a little evilly.

My heart stopped for just a split second hoping that evil grin had a mind of its own.

His tongue darted out, flicking my nipple just lightly enough to shoot sparks down to my pink bits.

He groaned. A guttural sound deep in his throat.

  He liked it.

  But I liked it more.

I pushed my breasts up pressing the mounds into his mouth, hoping for much, much more.

  I wasn’t disappointed.

He palmed the sides of my breasts, pushing them together, devouring them with his mouth. Licking, kissing, sucking until I could barely stand. I was holding onto his neck for dear life while he ravished my breasts with his glorious mouth. His tongue was so soft and wet against my skin. I couldn’t help but moan my pleasure.

“Oh God, Beau.” I moaned flinging my head back. I couldn’t believe this was happening. That it was this good. Sparks of electricity were shooting down my body as he licked my nipples. I could feel my pink bits swelling and I knew I was close to cumming. Just one little…

  Push.

His pelvis thrust against my mound in just the right spot and sent me spiraling. My eyes closed, as I panted with release while wave after wave of pleasure rocked my lush body nestled against the rock hard body of Beau. My body trembled while he held me as he caught his breath against my soft mounds.

My head still flung back, I opened my eyes as I descended from my orgasm. Behind me I saw a figure. Upside down, but definitely there.

  I gasped.

  “Charlie!”

Beau’s head snapped up from my breasts and almost dropped me.

“Shit.” He muttered. I couldn’t tell if he was annoyed or feeling guilty. I lifted my head back up and spun around to face Charlie.

“What the hell, Maddox?” Charlie was spittin’ fire mad. The use of Beau’s last name tipped me off that Charlie was about to go ape shit on his ass. He had always been hot headed. His anger had never been directed at me and I knew he would never hurt a woman, but I was scared of it, nonetheless. He was big, and the wolf inside him made his fury that much more uncontrollable.

He growled, the fury within him starting a shift into his wolf. I felt Beau’s naked body against my back heat with his own shift. His blood boiling as his body prepared to bring his wolf to the surface.

I stepped away, knowing that being anywhere around these two wasn’t a good idea.

“Guys, just stop. Please!” I pleaded from behind a rock.

Charlie snapped his head in my direction and growled, “I’ll deal with you later.”

  That shut me right up.

They each finished their shifts a half second later leaping into motion, charging each other.

  I ducked my head. I couldn’t watch.

The last thing I heard before covering my ears was the scrape of claws against flesh and an ear splitting howl…
